Day 1: Tbilisi

Breakfast Excursion around Tbilisi - the capital of Georgia. Tbilisi is unique and one of the kind. It is situated on several mountain hills where the ancient parts of town are layered across old neighborhoods of the city. The most beautiful river Kura, with its picturesque rocky shores, flows through entire city.

"Old Town" is a historical center of Tbilisi, located at the foot of Mtatsminda Mountain (Holy Mountain). Almost all buildings and structures of the Old City are historical and cultural monuments. These are 2 and 3 floor buildings that are built out of old stone and brick in special Tbilisian architectural style with its narrow streets, galleries and wooden balconies. In this part the city never sleeps where single or group tourists are hanging out 24/7 around the clock, artists exhibit their art, artisans display their crafts and offer souvenirs, sweetheart lovers rush to meet under the tower clock that was recently built by local director of the Marionette Theater Rezo Gabriadze. Tbilisi is one of few places in the world where an Orthodox church, a Catholic cathedral, a synagogue and a mosque peacefully coexist side by side.

During excursion we will visit Metekhi Church (5th century), Narikala fortress (IV century). For additional $25 fee, tourist may visit sulphur baths - Vecherny Tbilisi. First introduction to Georgian cuisine at the local authentic restaurant. Later, there is another option offered for extra $25 fee to visit a local folk theater with unforgettable spectacle where many centuries of Georgian history is told through dancing, singing, plastic performance, as well as by traditional and modern figurative forms. Here you will be offered Georgian wine and authentic sweets.

Day 2: Tbilisi - Signagi - Gurjaani - Telavi

Breakfast.
Moving to the "city of eternal love" Signagi. Visit the monastery complex of St. George and the grave of St. Nino in the village of Bodbe. Tour of the ancient city of Signagi, which is located on the top of a mountain range towering above the Alazani valley. Further excursion to Gyrjaian wine house that was founded in 1864.

Later, Kakhetian winemakers will explain and show how their ancestors were making wine and poured it into "kvevri" (clay jugs buried in the ground in an underground wine cellar). Wine tasting festivities will take place in Marani, where local winemakers will offer you several kinds of house wines. Then, locals will show you how to make Georgian national spirit "Chacha" (about 45 degrees) and a local sweet delicacy called "Churchchela" (walnuts, just like beads, dipped on a string in boiled wine and after cooling, turn into a solid form). Also you will be shown how to bake Kakhetian bread "Dedas Puri" (Mother's bread) and then try it at the table. Here, on the fire pits, before your eyes, cooks will roast shish kebabs out of fresh meat. Then all the guests are gathered at a large hall, furnished and decorated in rich authentic Georgian style. A true Georgian Feast will be served by the grand fireplace offering authentic delicious meals accompanied by folklore performers.

Transfer to Telavi - the main city and administrative center of Kakheti. Check-in at the hotel.

Day 3: Telavi - Napareuli - Tbilisi

Breakfast.
Visit local market in Telavi. Excursion to a fortress of King Erekle II (XVIII century), who signed the Georgievsky tractate with the Russian Empire. Then visit the Cathedral of Alaverdi (XI century), the second tallest building (more than 50 m), as well as a monastic wine cellar. Excursion to the ancient Ikalto Academy (X-XII centuries), where according to legend the great Georgian poet and philosopher Shota Rustaveli studied, the author of the world-famous poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin".

Visiting Marani in Napareuli, wine tasting and traditional Georgian feast. Lunch.
During the tour you will be able to see: wine cellars of open and closed types, preparation process of vodka "Zavodi", wine tasting, traditional Kakhetian feast with a toastmaster, singers who perform folk Georgian songs. You can also take part in the "Rtveli" end of September - early October, - to squeeze grapes, bake bread, cook khinkali, tataru and churchkhelu.
Dinner.
Return to Tbilisi. Overnight stay.

Day 4: Tbilisi - Ananuri - Gudauri - Kazbegi - Tbilisi

Breakfast.
In the morning departure from Tbilisi in the direction of Stepantsminda (Kazbegi). On the way, we will visit the picturesque Ananuri fortress (XVI century) located above the Aragvi river, as well as the amazing beauty of the Zhinvalskoe Reservoir. Passing the Gudauri ski resort (2200m). A stunning trip along the river of Tergi, through the cross pass (2400m) will lead us to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).

Lunch with the master class from local highlanders - observe how to prepare a national dish - khinkali and try them after. Excursion in Kazbegi: the church of the Holy Trinity Gergeti (2170 m above sea level). In clear weather, a stunning, phantasmagoric view of one of the highest peaks of Georgia may open up - Mount Kazbek (5147m). Return to Tbilisi. Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Tbilisi - Vardzia - fortress of Akhaltsikhe

Breakfast.
We will visit cave monastery complex of Vardzia (XII-XIII centuries.) This is a 19 tier cave city. There are around 600 premises that were carved along 900 m steep mountain wall along a left bank of Kura River. These are churches, chapels, living quarters, storerooms, baths, treasures, libraries. There are still secret passages, the remains of the water supply system and the irrigation system that stayed preserved till this day. Vardzia is a monument of the Golden Age Period. There were more than 1000 monks who lived in the monastery of this fortress. In case of attack, this monastery could shelter almost 20,000 people. Lunch. Here we will be offered trout cooked over fire on a rod. Return to Akhaltsikhe.

After we will visit a newly restored fortress of Akhaltsikhe, the birthplace of Charles Aznavour. In the complex, along with the Orthodox Church of St. Marina, there is a mosque, a Catholic cathedral, a monastery of Benedictine sisters, a synagogue and an Armenian church.

Day 6: Akhaltsikhe - Borjomi - Kutaisi

Breakfast. Transfer to Kutaisi. On the way we will try the world-famous mineral water Borjomi from the natural spring. We will also visit Borjomi National Park - it is the first national park in the Caucasus and is considered to be one of the largest in Europe. Lunch.

Tour of the ancient city of Kutaisi, founded more than 3 thousand years ago. Visit of monastery and academy of Gelati (XII century), founded by the great Georgian king David IV - the Builder, both included as World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Inspection of the Bagrati Cathedral (XI century) and the "monastery of fulfillment of desires" by Motsamet.

In the evening before dinner we will have a lesson of authentic Georgian cuisine. We will prepare real Imeretian khachapuri, a chicken dish called Chkmeruli, eggplants with Georgian pkhali and nuts. After we will try it all and enjoy the "masterpieces" created by us.

Day 7: Kutaisi - Martvili - Nokalakevi - Kutaisi

Breakfast.
Excursion to the Martvili Cathedral (Chkondidi) which is an ancient Martiville monastery. It is known as a monastery of Chkondidi in official historical sources. This monastery is also widely known for the fact that the great Georgian king David Agmashenebeli was brought up there. In the monastery there was also a scriptorium, where monks rewrote the most ancient monuments of world literature.
Lunch.

Next, we will visit a city of Nokalakevi, which is the oldest historical and architectural monument of Georgia. Previously, this city was called Archeopolis, and according to legend, Argonauts stole the golden fleece here.

In the evening we will try famous authentic Georgian dish made of corn flour and suluguni - Elardzhi while snacking other Georgian dishes. Overnight stay.

Day 8: Kutaisi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi

Breakfast. Moving to Tbilisi. On the way, an excursion to the ancient capital of Georgia Mtskheta - the ancient capital of Georgia. Mtskheta entire city is a museum, recognized by UNESCO as one of World Heritage Sites Excursion to Visit of Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli (1010-1029), where one of the main Christian shrines of the Khiton of the Lord was buried. A legend states that Elios, a witness of crucifixion of Christ brought it there. Also, this is a burial place of many Georgian kings. Visit to Samtavro monastery, where a blackberry bush blossoms and fructifies all year around. Saint Nino lived here and preached by this blueberry bush in IV century. She was an educator and the first preacher of Christianity in Georgia. A part of the life-giving pillar, the miraculous icon of the Iberian Mother of God, the miraculous icon of St. Nino, the grave of the holy King Merian and Queen Nani, relics of St. Abybos of Nekre, St. Shio of Mgvimsky are all located here. Visit to the ancient temple-monastery of Jvari (VI century).

Here in "Mtskheta", we will visit a home wine cellar and a local hospitable family of farmers. We will tasting Georgian wines and Chacha + will have lessons of Georgian cuisine + a Georgian farmer’s authentic delicious simple food dinner, which you will remember for the rest of your life. Tasting is carried out from traditional clay bowls. Home made wine of 2 varieties - red, white; chacha of 2 varieties - white and tinted. The owner of the house is a historian himself and a local winemaker, and during the tasting will tell you the whole history of grape culture and wine production in Georgia. Lunch at the famous "Salobio" Restaurant. Arrival in Tbilisi.

There is an optional tour available to visit "Bagrationi 1882" sparkling wine making factory with wine tasting for additional fee. Manufacturing facility is completely modernized and equipped with the latest Italian equipment where sparkling wine is produced both by bottle and by tank method. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Tbilisi

Will visit remains of a secret underground passage leading to the river that has been preserved; a Church of the Archangels (16th-17th centuries).

Excursion in Telavi. This is the main city and administrative center of Kakheti. Day 5: Batumi

Breakfast. City Tour. Batumi is considered as "Georgian Singapore", the most famous Georgia's Black Sea resort with a population of 120,000 people. The most famous place in Batumi is Batumi Piazza, a favorite place of locals and great tourist attraction, built in 2009. In 2010, the city receives a new gift - a 7 meter tall moving sculpture that represents Love where two statues of a woman and a man in a slow motion toward each other unite in one whole at the end. Day 6: Batumi - Zugdidi - Mestia

Breakfast. Transfer to Zugdidi.
The treasure of Zugdidi is the graceful family palace of the princes Dadiani with a magnificent park. This is a museum with an unusual historical collection, including the death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte. The oldest aristocratic family of prince Dadiani is known for his connections with Emperor Napoleon. In Zugdidi, we will visit a church of Vlaherna. This church treasures one of the most precious Christian relics - the belt of the Blessed. Virgin Mary! This is a Christian relic, which, according to legend, belonged to the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ. Lunch. Day 9: Kutaisi - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Tbilisi

On the way to Tbilisi we will have an excursion at an ancient cave city - Uplistsikhe (1,000 yrs B.C.), which was built throughout centuries and included more than 700 caves and structures, such as wine cellars, bakeries, an ancient theater, a reception hall of Queen Tamara, preserved to this day. Lunch. Next visit is to Stalin Museum. The museum consists of three blocks: the museum itself, house and Stalin's personal railway car. Return to Tbilisi. You will have spare time to buy souvenirs. Farewell dinner with national dances and songs. Lodging for the night.

We will visit a monastery and academy of Gelati (XII century), founded by the great Georgian king David IV - the Builder which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Excursion to the karst cave of Prometheus, where according to the legend, Prometheus passed fire to people and was chained to a ckiff as a punishment from his God father.

She was an educator and the first preacher of Christianity in Georgia. Day 1: Tbilisi

Late breakfast. City tour.
We will visit the Metekhi Church (5th century), the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Tsmind Sameba temple complex, the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Walking tour of the city. "Old Town" - the historical center of Tbilisi, is located at the foot of Mtatsminda Mountain (Holy Mountain). We will climb the newest lift to the fortress of Narikala (IV century), we will see entire city from a bird's site view. After we will visit the old city of Sioni Cathedral (VI-VII century). The Anchiskhat Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, is the oldest surviving church.

We will visit church of Nevsky, which is an Orthodox church under jurisdiction of the Georgian Church diocese. Along with the church of St. Vladimir in the district of Vera, church of Nevski is one of two churches in Tbilisi, where worship ceremony is performed completely in religious Slavonic language.

After we will walk along Shota Rustaveli Avenue. Will enjoy evening Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi - Nekresi - Gremi - Telavi

Breakfast. Moving to Telavi.
Excursion to the monasteries of Dzveli-Shuamta and Akhali Shuamta (word for word translation is "Old" Shuamta and "New" Shuamta). These two monasteries are completely different from each other in architecture and were built during different times. Dzveli Shuamta Monastery is an older monument and unites a system of several ancient churches. The monastery of Akhali Shuamta was built later, in the 16th century. Excursion through the ancient Ikalto Academy (X-XII cc.), Where according to legend the great Georgian poet and philosopher Shota Rustaveli had studied, the author of the world famous poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin". After we will visit a Cathedral of Alaverdi (XI century), the second tallest building (more than 50 m), as well as a monastic wine cellar. Later a visit to Nekresi - the oldest church in Georgia of the IV century. Overview of the royal fortress Gremi (XVI century). The complex is surrounded by a wall with towers and embrasures. Remains of a secret underground passage that leads to the river have survived all these years.

Day 3: Telavi - Bodbe - Signagi - Sagarejo - Tbilisi

Breakfast. Transfer to the "city of eternal love" Signagi. Visit of monastery complex of St. George and the grave of St. Nino in the village of Bodbe, who brought Christianity to Georgia. Tourists may agree to ablutions in holy miraculous waters that heal the sick and makes unhappy happy.
Lunch. Continuing our trip with a visit to Sagarejo and Ninotsminda Cathedral that was built in 575 A.D. Currently this is an operational working convent.

Further our excursion will take you to the Shio-Mgvimsky Monastery. This is a medieval monastic architectural complex in Georgia, not far from the city of Mtskheta. As the sources say, the monastery was founded by the one of heirs and students of one of the 13 Assyrian Founding Fathers - John Zedazni, Shio. In the middle of the VI. during the last years of his life, Father Shio spent as hermit in a dark and deep cave (mgvime), and after his death, according to his will, they buried him there. His grave in Shio Mgvime (Cave Shio) is considered a sacred place. In the XI century a temple was built over the cave, which was later attributed to the church of St. John.

Day 5: Tbilisi - Vardzia - Borjomi - Akhaltsikhe

Breakfast.
We will visit cave monastery complex of Vardzia (XII-XIII centuries.) This is a 19 tier cave city. There are around 600 premises that were carved along 900 m steep mountain wall along a left bank of Kura River. These are churches, chapels, living quarters, storerooms, baths, treasures, libraries. There are still secret passages, the remains of the water supply system and the irrigation system that stayed preserved till this day. Vardzia is a monument of the Golden Age Period. There were more than 1000 monks who lived in the monastery of this fortress. In case of attack, this monastery could shelter almost 20,000 people. Lunch. Here we will be offered trout cooked over fire on a rod.

After we will visit a newly restored fortress of Akhaltsikhe, the birthplace of Charles Aznavour. In the complex, along with the Orthodox Church of St. Marina, there is a mosque, a Catholic cathedral, a monastery of Benedictine sisters, a synagogue and an Armenian church.

Day 6: Akhaltsikhe - Tbilisi

Breakfast. Transfer to Borjomi. As we travel, we will stop at Safar Monastery, which is located in the mountains near Meskheti. It was founded by St. Savva in XIII century. It is an active all male monastery. There are 20 monks and novice students who live at the monastery at the present moment. They live of harvested own vegetables and produce and of local donations from the visitors and local population. Upon arrival to Borjomi, we will have the world-famous mineral water Borjomi from its natural spring.
Lunch. Return to Tbilisi. Spare time. Farewell dinner with dances and songs. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 1: Tbilisi - Gudauri

Excursion around Tbilisi - the capital of Georgia. Tbilisi is unique and one of the kind. It is situated on several mountain hills where the ancient parts of town are layered across old neighborhoods of the city. The most beautiful river Kura, with its picturesque rocky shores, flows through entire city.

"Old Town" is a historical center of Tbilisi, located at the foot of Mtatsminda Mountain (Holy Mountain). Almost all buildings and structures of the Old City are historical and cultural monuments. These are 2 and 3 floor buildings that are built out of old stone and brick in special Tbilisian architectural style with its narrow streets, galleries and wooden balconies. In this part the city never sleeps where single or group tourists are hanging out 24/7 around the clock, artists exhibit their art, artisans display their crafts and offer souvenirs, sweetheart lovers rush to meet under the tower clock that was recently built by local director of the Marionette Theater Rezo Gabriadze. Tbilisi is one of few places in the world where an Orthodox church, a Catholic cathedral, a synagogue and a mosque peacefully coexist side by side.

Days 2-8: Gudauri

Gudauri is the youngest and the fastest growing ski resort in the Caucasus. The unique natural mountain terrain provides ample opportunities for free style and off track skiing with multiple fresh non-groomed runs - a heaven for freeriders. Main slopes are also groomed by state of art equipment. There are also amazing options for cross-country skiers and if you like extreme, there is a heli-ski option available.

The Gudauri ski resort is located at an altitude of 2000m above sea level, on the southern slope of the great Caucasus range with bright sunlight throughout the day. One of popular tourist attractions here is a helicopter trip to fly over the peeks of Caucasus Mountains to reach snowy fields of the Cross Pass. At the present time the resort is being actively developed and new and high class hotels are being opened yearly and new ski slopes as well. Gudauri resort opens unusually early for the season. Here, skiing snow cover is ready starting November and all the way till May with a 2 meter thickness! The lower lift station is at an altitude of 1990 m, and the upper lift station is at 3007 m. At present, there are five chairlifts Doppelmayr. The first three-chair lift is 1010 m long (available during night skiing), the second four-chair lift is 2310 m long, the third lift is a three-chair lift 1060 m long, which raises you to the top of the mountain (3007 m), the fourth lift is three-chair and four-chair (1104 m), the fifth lift 1300 m lifts to the neighboring Sadzele peek.

The length of the longest slope run is 7 km; with an altitude difference of 1000 m. There is a variety of well-groomed runs that will accommodate any level of skiing. All runs are FIS certified and serviced by the state of art Austrian equipment. Great open slopes offer spectacular possibilities for skiers and snowboarders who like off route runs with lots of non-groomed natural snow! Most skiers and snowboarders who visited Gudauri once always want to come back preferring this resort even over Alps. These are ski rentals, kids ski school and instructors for adults are also available at the resort.
