Four Seasons Hotels: Canadian-based international five-star hotel chain
Four Seasons Hotels, Inc. is a Canadian-based international ultra-luxury, five-star hotel chain, which include 84 properties among the top luxury hotels worldwide. The story of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, which opened its first hotel in 1961, is a tale of continual innovation, remarkable expansion and a single-minded dedication to the highest of standards.
Isadore (Issy) Sharp had no plans to enter the hotel business on a grand scale. While a young architect working for his father, Max Sharp designed a motel for a family friend that succeeded and inspired him to try creating his own hotel in Toronto. Over the course of this decade, he opened three Four Seasons hotels. Sharp’s experience would pave the way for the creation of a new kind of hotel, one focused solely on the guest.
The company’s Corporate Office is located here, in Toronto, on Leslie Street. The company has been named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune every year since the survey’s inception in 1998. The Canadian-based company has, for nearly 50 years, transformed the hospitality industry by combining friendliness and efficiency with the finest traditions of international hotel-keeping. In the process, Four Seasons has redefined luxury for the modern traveler. Four Seasons does not own most of its properties; it operates them on behalf of real estate owners and developers.
