Inspired by Sophia Loren herself

Originally, MSC Divina was to be christened MSC Fantastica. Nevertheless, the actress Sophia Loren had disclosed to Gianluigi Aponte, MSC’s owner and a close personal friend, that she would one day love to have a ship named after her. It was a wish he instantly fulfilled by suggesting the name Divina, which means ‘divine’. The naming ceremony is scheduled for 26 May 2012 in Marseille, planned, true to the tradition of MSC Cruises, baptized their new ships in a major port for the shipping company.

Itineraries for Summer 2012: Eastern Mediterranean: Bari – Katakolon – Izmir – Istanbul – Dubrovnik – Venice – Bari GENERAL DESCRIPTION The ship is 333.3m in length and is 38m in width. It can travel at a speed of up to 23.7 knots (43.9km/h; 27.3mph). With 1739 staterooms, she has more than 100 additional staterooms compared to her two sister ships. As part of the (Modified-Fantasia) Divina class, MSC Divina has two additional elevators. Naval architect De Jorio Design International also introduced a completely redesigned deck, in addition to a new restaurant. The exclusive MSC Yacht Club has been enlarged and redesigned and features many improvements. The ship-in-ship concept allows guests the highest level of comfort and privacy. MSC Divina features a revised rear-lounge, casino and disco in addition to a new “infinity pool” exclusive to adults only. Aurea Spa will have Balinese massage, saunas, Turkish bath, and more. MSC Divina will also debut Aurea Spa Suites, these are exclusive to Yacht Club members and are part of the Yacht Club complex. MSC Divina also features various improvements in order to keep guests entertained. These include the new “4D” cinema along with a Formula 1 simulator.
